Launched a few months ago, it was hit or miss as to whether Google’s Nexus 7 tablet would do well. Having to compete with both Samsung & HTC in the Android tablet market could have theoretically blunted sales of yet another Android tablet, but not in this case.
Google’s 7-inch, Nexus 7 tablet, has been a resounding success. Receiving great reviews from almost every tech website that reviewed it, Google have clearly out done themselves, and it would appear that the consumer market feels the same.
Estimates are currently putting the Nexus 7 at selling around 8 million units by the end of 2012. The estimates are based on touch panel shipments, so are likely to be slightly out, but still, even roughly 8 million units is a lot. Considering Google were aiming for approximately 3 million units sold, they must be dizzy with delight!
At just £159 or £199 depending on the hard drive size, the Nexus 7 is a snip against all other tablets and the build quality courtesy of ASUS is very polished and doesn’t at all feel cheap.
The only question, how can Google beat it?
