If you happen to live in the USA then you will no doubt know that there is a slight time delay with the Olympic broadcasting by NBC. The broadcasting corporation decided that they would not stream the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics live because their ‘award winning’ presenters needed to provide context to the ceremony that live streaming cannot provide.
Understandably, many American’s were miffed by this decision, especially when the NBC live broadcasts that evening omitted the coverage, almost pretending that the Olympics had not even started. NBC instead opted to do a prime time showing of the opening ceremony, with context, from 19:30 – 00:00 no doubt making a large sum of advertising revenue in the process.
One person, Mr. Guy Adam’s, the Independent’s LA bureau chief, was so ticked off that he published NBC executive Gary Zenkel’s email address on Twitter and then stated that the move was a ‘money grabbing’ one by the broadcast company.
“The man responsible for NBC pretending the Olympics haven’t started yet is Gary Zenkel. Tell him what u think!”
Twitter alerted the network to the tweet in question and banned Guy Adam’s account for breaching their terms of service, that of providing personal information without the persons consent.
